Marbella Spain: The Complete 3 Day Itinerary

Picture this: three days of soaking up the sunshine, sipping on cocktails by the pool, and living your best life in one of Spain’s most glamorous coastal spots, welcome to Marbella Spain! Whether you’re unwinding at exclusive beach clubs, indulging in Michelin-starred dining, or staying in luxurious resorts, Marbella offers plenty of ways to live in the lap of luxury.

I absolutely loved Marbella Spain. It has everything I could ever want, the beaches, the FOOD, the glamour! I enjoyed my 3 days here very much and highly recommend spending any amount of time in Marbella Spain.

How to get to MARBELLA SPAIN

If you are flying internationally you will likely have to stop over in Barcelona (which you absolutely should, check out my Barcelona itinerary here). From there you will fly into Malaga the region where Marbella is located. Pick up your rental car and drive ~30-45 minutes south to reach Marbella. A rental car will be essential to the itinerary that I have laid out below but you can also try the public transportation if that is your vibe 🙂

Hotels

If you know anything about me, you know I’m a hotel girl through and through. I’m sure there are some great BnBs in Marbella, but when it comes to this kind of trip, we’re going all-in on the resort life.

  • Marbella Club – My first choice when researching where to stay. Book way in advance during summer. The property is stunning, and the restaurants!? Prepare for your “I could get used to this” moment.
  • Nobu Hotel – This is where we stayed. Japanese-inspired design meets Spanish seaside luxury. Bonus: adults-only pool for uninterrupted bliss, and shared access to Puente Romano’s sprawling amenities.
  • Puente Romano – Marbella’s crown jewel. Think endless dining options, beach access, multiple pools, tennis courts, and every kind of guest — honeymooners, families, solo travelers — all coexisting in perfect harmony.
  • El Fuerte Marbella – Ideal if you want to stay closer to Old Town. Recently renovated, walking distance to both Old Town and the beach, and the vibe is chic but approachable.

Day 1: Arrival

Marbella is all about the viva la vida lifestyle, so ease into it. Spend the morning by the pool, treat yourself to a massage, and wander over to Old Town in the afternoon or evening. This is your day to adjust to the pace of luxury living.

Things to Do

  • Old Town Marbella (Casco Antiguo): Get lost (in a good way) among the flowerpot-lined streets. The whitewashed buildings give Greek-island vibes, but the Andalusian soul is unmistakable. I loved getting lost in the streets and shops in the old town, such a great way to spend the day, afternoon, evening, anytime really!
  • Plaza de los Naranjos: The prettiest little square within the Old town, make sure to stop have a drink or dinner, take it all in.
  • Paseo Maritimo De Marbella: Stretching the Marbella coastline you’ll find the Paseo Maritimo. Perfect way to settle into your first day in Marbella and fits perfectly when visiting the old town.

Day 2: Beach clubs & Puerto Banús

Things to do

  • Beach Clubs: Marbella Spain is famous for its beach clubs. If you’re looking for a rented beach chairs, Djs, champagne, the beach clubs are for you. Here are a couple I recommend: Niki Beach is a no brainer, no matter where you are in the world Niki Beach holds a certain standard when it comes to its beach clubs. La Cabane: the prettiest in my opinion and most laid back. Ocean Club: in Puerto Banus, easy to step out on the town for lunch or dinner post beach club.
  • Playa de Nagüeles: One of the most popular beaches in Marbella Spain. If you’re staying at Nobu hotel or close by this will give you easy access!
  • Dunas de Artola o Cabopino: A bank of dunes with an amazing boardwalk near the beach Playa de Cabopino, perfect for a nice hike.
  • Puerto Banús: Yes it’s flashy, yes it’s touristy, but definitely worth the visit to Puerto Banus. It’s fun to see all the cool cars, boats and perfect if you’re looking to do some shopping in Marbella Spain 😉

Day 3: Day trip to Ronda

We’re trading the coast for the hills today. Just over an hour north of Marbella lies Ronda, one of Spain’s most dramatic and picturesque towns. This is a super hilly and windy roads type of drive but it is absolutely worth it! There are plenty of restaurants, shops and did I already mention the stunning hills and iconic bridge?! This was one of my favorite days and if you go, you’ll see why!

Things to do

  • Ronda: The day trip to Ronda will likely take up most of your last day. It’s about an hour drive from Marbella to Ronda, it is the most scenic and beautiful road trip. Lots of twisty, windy roads. The bridge is the most iconic part of this town (you cannot miss it).
  • Malaga: If you’d like to check out a bigger city, Malaga city center is perfect for you. Also about a 45 minute to an hour drive from Marbella. If you’re feeling more of a cityscape Malaga is perfect with so many shops and food options.
  • Pool time: If want to opt out of the day trip, this is a perfect day to enjoy your hotel pool and soak up the sunshine that Marbella Spain offers!

Food Recommendations

  • Taberna El Bordón: Classic Andalusian flavors in a cozy setting. Order the grilled octopus and thank me later.
  • MIA Café – Tapas & Bar: A casual but stylish spot for tapas and wine that we stumbled upon. The tapas were outstanding and CHEAP! The kind of place where you start with “just one drink” and suddenly it’s three hours later. Also in a great spot for people watching 🙂
  • El Patio: I still dream about this dinner… Located in the Marbella Club hotel, everything about this place is magnificent. Don’t pass on the cutlet and desserts.. unreal.
  • Florentine: Loved the decor and vibes of this place! Service was a little iffy but the food was good and worth going back to for the charm.

Final Thoughts

Marbella Spain is that rare mix of laid back beach vibes, high-octane glamour, and authentic Andalusian charm. You can spend your days doing absolutely nothing or fill them with Michelin meals, road trips, and boat rides. Either way, you’ll leave with a tan, a full camera roll, and a slightly inflated sense of self-worth (which, honestly, is part of the fun). If you liked this Marbella Spain itinerary save it for later and share it with your travel crew. Considering anywhere else in Spain? Check out my Mallorca post here!
