Where to stay in Paris
There are so many beautiful, stunning, hotels to stay at in Paris. It’s easy to get overwhelmed where to stay but my favorites are listed here. I love a hotel with a view of the Eiffel Tower because… well why not!
- Hôtel La Comtesse (7th Arrondissement) My personal favorite—this boutique hotel offers elegant rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing breathtaking Eiffel Tower views. If you want to guarantee that your room has Eiffel Tower view, contact the hotel in advance. For the price, you truly cannot beat this hotel.
- Shangri-La Paris (16th Arrondissement): Housed in a former royal residence, this palace hotel provides opulent rooms and suites with direct views of the Eiffel Tower. Guests can also enjoy Michelin-starred dining at Shang Palace. This is one of the most popular hotels in Paris (for good reason) so be prepared to pay a premium.
- Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel (15th Arrondissement): Located just steps from the Eiffel Tower, this modern hotel features rooms with private balconies offering unobstructed views of the landmark. Such a good hotel for the price with stunning Eiffel Tower views.

How to get around Paris
Paris is super walkable, but when you need to get across the city fast, the Metro is your best friend. It’s cheap, quick, and easy to navigate. You can also hop on city buses, grab an Uber or Bolt, or even rent bikes and scooters if you’re feeling adventurous (I admit the scooters are fun and we used them on our trip to Paris for quick 5-10 minute rides). I personally didn’t think the traffic was too bad in Paris depending on how far you are going. Bolt was the fastest way to get around (Europe version of uber) but public transit will be your most cost effective, fast way to get around.
If you notice from any of my other blogs, I also always recommend a hop on hop off bus when you’re short on time in a big city like Paris. This way you make sure you don’t miss any of the top attractions, get some history on those attractions and it helps when you can use a break from walking (and you will trust me!).
Day 1
If you only have 48 hours in Paris, you’re not wasting any time, today’s about hitting some of the classics but also taking it easy as the jet lag will likely be hitting any moment now lol. Think: strolling past the Eiffel Tower, café and macaron stops, and just straight-up living your best Parisian life. Comfy shoes are a must because we’re walking everywhere (and eating everything).
MUST SEE SIGHTS
- Arc de Triomphe: One of Paris’ most iconic landmarks is a must see no matter how many times you’ve been to Paris. The first time I went to Paris I skipped going up the Arc de Triomphe, but on my second visit it was definitely a bucket list item. Be sure to book tickets in advance (usually ~90 days before you plan on visiting), its about 16 euro, those 18 and younger its free!
- Champs-Élysées: A close walk from the Arc de Triomphe, you have Champs-Elysees. Whether you’re windowing shopping or looking to buy yourself something special (hopefully a new designer purse or jewelry! lol) its fascinating to walk down one of Paris’ busiest streets.
- Explore Rue Cler: One of the most beautiful street markets in Paris. You will get lost if amazing shops, fresh produce, artisan breads, you name it. They are closed on Sundays so hopefully you can work it into your itinerary another day 🙂
- Musee d’Orsay: A fan fave museum, with gorgeous art. Some may recommend this over the Louvre (I say do both if you can work it in but nothing compares to the Louvre).
- Sunset Tour on the Seine: Something that I missed out on my first trip to Paris was taking a river cruise on the Seine. You can’t really go wrong with any time of day but there is something about seeing the Eiffel tower at night that will be a core memory forever. We booked a private boat with Victoria Boat Paris. It was on the pricey side but split amongst up to 12 people, you will have a magical night with Oliver the captain of the boat.
food recs
- Café de l’Homme: If you’re looking for classic Eiffel Tower views this is your restaurant. Perfect Parisian menu will go well with the beautiful backdrop.
- Cafe de Flore: I know you have most likely heard of the probably the most popular cafe in all of Paris. However, this place is deff worth the hype! Either in the morning for breakfast or if you need an afternoon pick me up, visiting here is a right of passage when visiting Paris.
- La Renommée: A chic Parisian restaurant tucked near the Louvre, set in a beautifully restored 1823 building, it offers classics like Burgundy snails and sole meunière in an intimate, vintage-inspired setting. Downstairs, Maude’s Lounge adds a speakeasy-style cocktail bar for a perfect end to the evening. This restaurant group is well known in my hometown of Chicago so I was super excited to try La Renommee!
- La Suite: If you’re looking for the bougie restaurant with the most stunning view of the Eiffel Tower this is your place! Although pricey, the food is actually really good and I highly recommend coming here for dinner. Make reservations through the Paris Society app about 30 days before your trip!

Day 2
Wakey wakey, it’s time for your 2nd day in Paris. We’re waking up early because we are headed to biggest museum in the world, we have no time to waste!
MUST SEE SIGHTS
- Louvre Museum: The first time I visited Paris I did not visit the Louvre. Like many I thought it may be overdone, hyped and not worth the trouble. Man, was I WRONG. The Louvre is the BIGGEST museum in the world. It’s mainly known for housing one of the most famous paintings in the world, the Mona Lisa but it was sooo much more than that. I HIGHLY recommend getting your tickets for no later than 9:30am and queuing by 8:45am. The lines to get in are crazy epscailly during summer. Tip: Go in through the carousel entrance to save time! Also plan ahead, as I mentioned this is the biggest museum in the world, you will not have time to see everything!
- Notre Dame: Seeing Notre-Dame in person is one of those “wow, I’m really in Paris” moments. Even with the restoration work still underway, the cathedral is absolutely stunning—those iconic towers and detailed carvings are just as impressive up close. Absolutely buy tickets in advance although you can’t get your hands on them until a couple of days before arrival.
- Galeries Lafayette Haussmann: A must-visit, even if you’re not shopping. The stained-glass dome is stunning, the fashion floors are endless, and the rooftop terrace has one of the best free views of the city. You can catch a fashion show, grab a pastry, or just soak up the stylish buzz. It’s part department store, part Parisian experience.
- Explore Montmartre: This area of Paris feels like stepping into a postcard version of Paris—cobblestone streets, artist stalls, and the stunning white dome of Sacré-Cœur watching over the city. It’s the perfect place to wander with no plan, stumble on hidden cafés, and catch incredible views from the top of the hill.

FOOD RECS
- Cafe Marly: Right across from the Louvre you have this beautiful cafe with pyramid views. I recommend coming here after exploring the Louvre, make reservations in advance.
- Girafe: Similar to La Suite (they are the same group and pretty much the same restaurant). Excellent views and amazing food, book through Paris Society 30 days before arriving!
- Les Ombres: If you’re looking for fine dining les ombres is a great option. With some of the most spectacular views of the Eiffel Tower, it’s perfect for dinner or even lunch.
- Pink Mama: If you find yourself in Montmartre, this is a great spot to grab lunch or dinner. You can’t miss it with its pretty pink exterior and beautiful interior. I recommend of course making reservations, it is defiantly worth a visit if your find yourself in the area.
- Le Train Bleu: Another iconic restaurant in Paris that feels like you stepped back into time. Think Belle‑Époque opulence, glimmering chandeliers, frescoed ceilings, and plush booths right inside Gare de Lyon.
final thoughts
Two days might not be enough to see everything, but it’s definitely enough to fall completely in love with Paris. From the big moments (like that first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower) to the little ones (hello, croissant-fueled walks), this trip hit all the right notes. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, Paris always finds a way to feel brand new, and trust me, you’ll already be planning your next trip before you even board the flight home. I have now been to Paris twice and I can absolutely say this is one of those cities you will continue to come back to and find yourself lost in something completely new every time.
