A Seattle Weekend: Exploring the Heart of the Pacific Northwest in 48 Hours

When it comes to 48 hours in a new city, I’ve got it nailed down to a tee. Seattle is a gem in the Pacific Northwest that really surprised me. It is definitely more than home to the first Starbucks and the Space Needle. From exploring diverse neighborhoods to indulging in fresh seafood and innovative cuisine, your weekend here promises a taste of the city’s eclectic spirit. Come along with me as I take you through the uniqueness of Seattle and make sure to bring your umbrella 😉

48 Hours in Seattle

Day 1 in Seattle

I begin all my 48 hour guides by reminding you to check into your hotel early! Even if check in is not until 3-4pm. Just by asking, you let the staff know you are there and they will expedite having your room ready. I would say I am able to get into my room early 8/10 times by just asking. For our Seattle trip we stayed at the Edgewater Hotel and this was the case for our checkin. Click here if you would like to know my thoughts on staying at the 4 star hotel.

Day 1 Activities

  • Pike Place Market: You can spend hours exploring pike place market and all the amazing food and shops inside. If you get lucky, experience the fish throwing at Pike Place Fish Market.
  • Gum Wall: This is one of the grossest coolest things I’ve ever seen. Take a picture and leave a piece hahaha
  • Mt. Rainier National Park: Hike the beautiful Mount Rainer. So many water falls and mountain views for a breathing taking adventure.
  • Underground tour: This is a great tour to take during a rainy day which is what we did. Cool Seattle history and the underground tunnels that are still standing today.

Day 1 Food

  • Pike Place Market: There are so many great places to try in Pikes Place market I highly recommend going in and trying 2-3 places theres so much to choose from
  • Starbucks: I know I know, you’re probably thinking why the heck would I go to Starbucks in a new city. If you didn’t know, Starbucks was founded in Seattle and the first ever coffee shop is located in outside of Pike Place Market. I recommend coming early in the morning when there is no line. Coming anytime after 11am, there will be a line outside the door.
  • Turkish Delight: Another gem in Pike Place Market we came across. This is a family owned establishment with some of the best Turkish food I’ve ever had. Not just the food but the deserts and coffee as well, I would go back to Seattle to have this meal again.

Day 2 in Seattle

Day 2 in Seattle, dig deeper into some of the most iconic things to do in the city. And of course… more food! Make sure you bring an umbrella, I hear it rains a lot … 🙂

Day 2 Activities

  • Space needle: No introduction needed. Did you really visit Seattle if you didn’t go to the space needle or at least take a picture of it? haha. It was actually really cool going up the space needle, it moves fyi for my people out there who easily get motion sickness.
  • Chihuly Garden & Glass museum: Directly next to the space needle, the glass museum is a beautiful exhibit with glass artwork.
  • Bainbridge ferry: Take the ferry to Bainbridge Island. A good way to get on the water but also visit a cute local town.
  • Amazon HQ Spheres: Random but cute thing to do in Seattle

Day 2 Food

  • Carmelos Tacos: Some of the best I’ve ever had in my life! The tortillas were so fresh and handmade. 10/10 we are it twice while we were in Seattle
  • El Mezcalito: Cute Oaxaca inspired restaurant. The food and drinks were great
  • Piroshky: Russian Bakery in Pike Place Market right next to the first Starbucks. I would walk back to Seattle just to have one of these amazing pastries.
  • Radiator Whiskey: Southern cuisine

Conclusion

Seattle really surprised me! As our 48-hour journey in Seattle wraps up, we’re left with unforgettable memories and a newfound love for this vibrant Pacific Northwest gem. From the iconic Space Needle to the bustling Pike Place Market, Seattle is truly an amazing place to visit in 48 hours. This guide has barely scratched the surface of what Seattle offers, hinting at the countless experiences still waiting to be discovered on your next visit. I don’t know what I was expecting but the city and food really blew me away. I can’t wait to come back and visit T Mobile park in the summer and uncover more of the Pacific Northwest.
